Harding Waterfront Estate Wedding Video | Nicolas & Candace

Real weddings · Mississauga

Nicolas and Candace were married at Harding Waterfront Estate in Mississauga on a Friday in July, and they never had to leave the property. Getting ready, the first look, portraits, the ceremony, dinner, and the dance floor all happened on one estate on the Lake Ontario waterfront, with just over a hundred guests along for it.

That changes the shape of a wedding day. There are no cars to catch and no gaps where everyone is in transit, so the day just keeps moving from one part of the grounds to the next. For us that means more time filming people and less time packing up gear.

The story of the day

We started at noon with Nicolas and his groomsmen in the mansion's Library, then moved to Candace and her bridesmaids in the Bridal Suite half an hour later. With both of them in the same building, we could go back and forth between the two rooms and catch the small stuff on each side: the last adjustments, the people dropping in, the waiting.

At 1:45 they had their first look, and from there the next two hours belonged to portraits, the bridal party, and family photos with Purple Tree Photography. Doing all of that before the ceremony is a choice a lot of couples make for good reason. It means the evening is free for guests instead of being split between the party and the photo list, which is the same trade-off we walk through in our guide to planning a wedding day timeline for better video.

Guests started arriving at four, and the ceremony began at the pond at 4:30. Candace walked in with her dad and her stepdad, and their maid of honour and best man signed the register as witnesses. For a ceremony, our job is mostly to stay out of the way and make sure every word is heard in the film.

Cocktail hour moved up to the front of the mansion. Just before six, Nicolas and Candace got a room reveal in the Glass Pavilion, a chance to see the space set and finished before anyone else walked in. At 6:15 came the grand entrance, and five minutes later they were straight into their first dance, while every guest was seated and watching.

The speeches were spread across dinner instead of stacked into one long block. Their maid of honour and the groom's best friend spoke over the first course, three sets of parents over the main, the groom's dad at dessert, and then Nicolas and Candace stood up and spoke themselves. Spacing them out like that keeps dinner from turning into an hour at the microphone, and each speech lands with a room that is actually listening. If you want the toasts kept in full, that is what our ceremony and speeches films are for.

Partway through the main course they slipped out for sunset portraits. The cake was cut at 8:15, the parent dances followed (a mother and son, then a father and daughter), and the dance floor opened at 8:45. We wrapped at 10 with the party still going.

Everything from noon to ten was cut down into their highlight film, a few minutes that hold the whole day.

If you are thinking about Harding Waterfront Estate for your own wedding, this is what we would point out: you can keep almost the entire day on site. The mansion covers getting ready, the grounds cover the ceremony and cocktails, and the Glass Pavilion takes the reception. For a timeline, that is one of the easiest setups in the GTA.
